For those of you who have not heard of Ben Hogan, he is arguably one of the greatest golfers in the history of the sport. Fortunately for us, he was willing to share some of the principles he has learned over the years. In 1957, Hogan wrote a book about what he found in the dirt, “Five Lessons: Modern Fundamentals of Golf.” In my opinion, one of the best golf instruction books ever written. I would highly encourage all golfers to check this out…

In this book you, tips like “making a proper weight shift for crisper contact”, or how “every swing has two planes” are as relevant today just as they were in 1957. As you read, think critically about the tips provided and compare them to your current performance. What can you take away from the information? What technique can you apply to your current game? Do yourself a favor, don’t try to do too much.Take it one step at a time.

I personally read this book from cover to cover at least once per year and on several other occasions will flip through to different areas when I need a little help or encouragement with my swing. With that said, if you need a little help in applying this information to the course, don’t hesitate to reach out and schedule a golf lesson with me! Give us a call today at (623) 584-8393!
